I have a new knitting underway and I thought I would post a ‘Wool on Sundays’ today but it’s 10.15pm now and the light is too bad for a photo so maybe next week…
Instead I’ll show a little of what I have been doing. I agreed to make a christening cake assuming it would basically be a Christmas cake with different decorations – enough for our extended family, who will be attending. Then my son said he thought it would be served after the service, which will be on Mothers Day, and there might be 70-80 people…
So I made an enormous amount of cake and today I spent hours and hours covering the three sections with marzipan and in a week or so I will ice it. We have a long drive with it so I plan to make three cakes as finished as possible and stack them when we get there, which means there will be no ta-da until 19th March, assuming things go to plan.

The fun part has been making the decorations from fondant and modelling icing. The photo on the left (of the stacked tins) was to work out how many more cabbages and daffodils I needed to make and it gives an idea of what I am aiming at.
Wishing you a happy week :)

Oh my goodness – those little veggies and flowers are amazing! What a lovely creation, and I hope you’ll post photos of the cake when it’s all constructed!
