Welcome to Wool on Sundays! March has come in like a lion, here, and we are waiting to see if he’s bringing the ‘Beast from the East’ with him.

Inside, in odd moments, I have been knitting and today I have a finish.

When I made the cardigan below (blogged in Getting up to date) I had some wool left over but I wasn’t sure if it would be enough for a jumper for my little grandson so I knitted top down expecting to do a border of different coloured stripes or fairisle at the bottom. I, roughly, used this the Little Fox pattern from Garn Studio.

But it turned out that I was able to finish it with just a very small amount of wool left. I decided to add a small textured border at the bottom to make it a bit more interesting and I put on the lime buttons to finish it off. One of my earliest memories is of those buttons. They were in my mother’s button box, which I used to play with as a child, and some years ago she gave them to me. Several times, I’ve trialled them for various knits and then put them back in my tin but I think this is the jumper they have been waiting for.

Fiona climbed a tree to look out for the ‘Beast from the East’ and we are now bracing ourselves…
I hope you have a good week and manage to keep warm!

What a gorgeous jumper! And those buttons are perfect for it, as is the textured border at the hem. Hooray for finishes *waves pompoms*

Those pretty buttons are the perfect home for the lovely jumper. The textured border is a lovely touch. I love that the buttons were in your mother’s button box and that you played with them when you were a little girl. Oh, the memories.
