It’s been a long time since I did a sewing post (mostly because the light has been so grim I’ve been putting off taking photos) but last week I made a dress and now I am finally posting I can’t think of anything much to say about it except once it was one of a pair of secondhand curtains from someone on ebay…
…and now it’s a dress!
Here are some details.
And this is the pattern I used, with a couple of adjustments – Simplicity 1080.
I do think it’s a most lovely, cheerful, just-what-we-need-in-the-drab-days-of-February-fabric sort of dress :D
Happy Sewing!

You’ll be on the Great British Sewing bee next! I love the pattern but can’t quite see the number in the photo. Could you send it me please? Is the dress lined? It looks a nice easy shape that would suit lots of people. Maybe I’ll give it a go.

You have a great eye. I don’t much like the dresses on the pattern front, but your’s does not look like THEIRS at all. I think it’s so cool that you saw those curtains and envisioned them as a new dress. It’s beautiful.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

Oh my goodness Janine – it’s beautiful! So springy and cheerful – and I can’t even tell you how much I love that it’s made from curtains – HA!! Like a few others have said – the originals in the pattern aren’t very striking, but your version really is awesome :) The blouse version would be pretty too!

Well I have to say that is a fantastic dress, I love it! Not so sure about what they would have looked like as curtains, but as a dress, I really love it.

Great save! And your dress is much prettier than the ones on the pattern! Funnily enough I have been making a dress out of old curtains today but I don’t think mine will be as great as yours!!!

Well done for “seeing” those curtains would make such a great dress!
I love the dotty angel versions too – I used to follow her blog ….. but she stopped blogging! Such a shame!
I like your blog and will be back to visit again!
