May 1st was the second Endeavourers Reveal Day this year and, this time, our theme was our ‘Favourite Book’.
There are no prizes for guessing which book I chose! I had a hard time deciding as I’ve had so many different favourite books at different times of my life but Tolkien has been an enduring companion to me throughout and The Hobbit was my chosen tale.
There are so many wonderful quilts that were crying out to be made but I settled for a modest, understated Hobbit Hole framed with a gold ring.
May 1st was also the final reveal day for the Endeavourers. We began with a call for members in Become an Endeavourer in 2017 and making four themed art quilts a year has become very much a way of life but, having reached the end of this round of themes, we have decided to close the group. With some of the themes I’ve spent a long time, learned new skills and put in a lot of work. With others I’ve struggled to find time, found it hard to decide what to make and ended up with something less interesting and more rushed than I’d have liked. Every time the other members of the group have been an encouragement and an inspiration and it has been a wonder to me that, with the same theme, we could all come up with such different quilts.
So it is sad to think there will be no more quarterly challenges.

On the other hand, in the ending of the Endeavourers, there is the beginning of a new chapter. I lately had a milestone birthday and I’ve been thinking it’s high time for a new beginning or at least a revival of sorts. Now I will have more time to be a bit more social, work on a wider variety of projects, finish some projects that have waiting for a long time and start some new ones.
To end this last Endeavourers post, I’d like to thank everyone who has been a member or supporter of this group over the years and wish you all well with your new beginnings :)

This is so bittersweet. I remember starting the genesis of this group, which then left my hands, flew over the ocean and became something much more interesting. I have loved following along as you’ve made things over the years, and now this is the last.
Thank you all, Endeavourers, for the joy you’ve brought, the beautiful and thoughtful makes, the interesting themes. And thank you to you, Janine for your creatures and critters and fantastic ideas and amazing small quilts. I have loved the journey!

It’s sad to close a chapter, but you can open a brand new one and challenge yourself. I have enjoyed seeing your posts since we’ve become cyber friends! You have made some beautiful pieces.
