SAHRR 2026 (The Parade)

Hello and welcome to Rainbow Hare!

I can hardly believe it but here I am at the SAHRR Parade, albeit with a rather garish quilt that is, thankfully, not quite so bright in real life.

I was looking forward to this SAHRR for months because it’s such a fun and social way to start the year so it is really disappointing to me not to have managed to join in and link up more.

Sadly, though, I had the whole bingo card of things-to-stop-Janine-sewing hurled at me.

To start with, my sewing machine was off being fixed, then there was childcare and visitors and more visitors and illness and work and work and more more work. And then, unbelievably, as I tried to fight my way through the brain-fog of flu to get this finished up, my iron mistook itself for a sieve and took to decanting water all over the floor!

At that point Mt RH snapped into helpfulness and insisted I must get a new one without delay because he could see it was rusting and dangerous and might stain our clothes…

Our clothes!

All I was doing for two months was trying to join in with the SAHRR, I don’t care about our clothes!

But the new iron is amazing and I now think the old one had probably been on the way out for a long time.

And I kept calculating and cutting wrong and then I decided just to bind it and use it for the babies to play on on the floor. And it’s a wonder how all pretensions to perfection can fly away and how how fast you can you sew once you’ve decided to use your prized quilt as playmat :)

I’m linking up with Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing for the SAHRR Parade Day and I’m really looking forward to visiting all the other Parade quilts and seeing how they have grown since I last saw them.

I am also linking this post with Quilting & Learning Combo for I Quilted This.

Happy Sewing!

Janine @ Rainbow Hare

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

I think it is absolutely lovely, Janine! And what stories it will have to tell of babies who play on it and love it as they grow. It looks so nice with the perfectly colored rocker that coordinates so well! Yay for the new iron, but clothes?? Haha – we know. better, right?! Nice finish!

Thought I’d try again to leave a comment on your fabulous SAHRR finish: the colors are really fun and bright and while it will be a good playmat, it’s also a lovely quilt. Congratulations on getting it finished, giving all that went on at your place!

I think this year’s SAHRR is a beauty, Janine! I’m sorry so many things got in the way of your plans for it, though. I love those colors together, and that perfect rocker you have it posed on, too. However you use this quilt, it will be loved!

Your quilt is so darling. It goes along with your rocking chair so well! I think it might have found a home there. Very pretty and will be enjoyed by all!

Janine, sorry to comment late. We have been kn travel. Sorry to hear about all the rocks on your way through the weeks of SAHRR. But … your quilt is adorable!!!! And fotos in this chair! Wow! This work will not be on the floor I am sure. They will cuddle under it. With you – happy granny.
Electrical supplies…. Check from time to time, it makes so much difference… happy that „your“ cloth now will be flat… lol
Thanks for showing this wonderful quilt, the inspiration source is soooo lovely! Happy spring time, Eva
