Wool on Sundays – 61 (The Yellow Cardigan)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays 61 and many apologies for missing the Wool on Sundays post last week :)

I do, at last have a tada! (apart from buttons).
This is the first time I’ve knitted a textured yoke and I’m very pleased with how it has turned out. I was hoping to show what this looks like on but, since I was the only available photographer,  it was such a challenge I ended up having to take it outside.

This was inspired by a cardigan at Well Done for You. I used Garn Studio Pattern and I used 2 strands of Cascade Heritage in Butter. I couldn’t get the correct tension with my yarn (Note to self – in future only use Garn Studio patterns with Drops yarn!) so I upsized my needles and knitted a larger size of the pattern. I made several variations:
1. I used a 2×2 rib instead of the moss stitch edging.
2. I made the sleeves properly long because I roll my sleeves up all the time, as you can tell by the wrinkles in the photo, but I just like having them properly long :)
3. In the lace pattern, I worked an extra two rows (through inattention) and decided not to frog.
4. There are two rows with stitches I didn’t have in the key I printed (later I found they were at the top of the next page and I’d stapled over them) so I skipped them to adjust for the extra two rows I’d already done.
5. The pattern at the top of the yoke was impossible as it required decreases without any corresponding increases yet, apparently, maintained the same number of stitches for several rows. By this time, I was also worried about running out of wool so I just made it up as I went along and had to sew it up with a different yarn when the yellow ran out.

If you have any wool or yarn projects – from this week or last week – I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are: 1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings or photos – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn. 2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics. 3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include
it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up. 4). Visit anyone else who links. Wishing you a happy week :)

Hey…. quick question. I'm starting the yoke on that same sweater. Yours looks great, so help me out with the second row, if you don't mind?

Row two says “(S1, PSSO, K1) 2x,” then it has a symbol for “1YO between 2 stitches.” Say what? So I see four stitches there. Does that mean 2 or 3 YO's?

Your *design decisions* :) only add to the beauty of that sweater – it's just so soft and cuddly looking – wearing it would be like being wrapped in a buttery hug (but with less calories and saturated fat, haha) – I think it's absolutely lovely :)
