Wool on Sundays – 161 (Two Small Knits)

Welcome to another Wool on Sundays!

I’m afraid it’s not the most interesting as I’ve shown my recent finishes already but here they are anyway :)

You may remember that, last month, I was waiting for my local wool shop to phone with some more of the pink they had said they would order. After a week, I decided to get some online and after two weeks, having finished the cardigan but thinking I would use it for something else as they had been kind enough to order it, although I had still heard nothing from the local shop, I went in to see if it had arrived. An assistant investigated and found the order still hadn’t been placed. By now it was almost a month since my original visit to the local shop and they charge nearly double the online price so I know where I will order yarn in future!

Having finished those two knits, I decided to knit the blue jumper again in a larger size for the six year old soon-to-be-nephew of my daughter. I still have the sleeves and neckband to do but I’m not in a big rush to get this finished as I think it will be too big for now and, hopefully, the Summer is coming.

If you have any yarn themed posts, I’d love you to link up. The rules, as usual, are: 1). Wool on Sundays – 160 (an abrupt halt)

Welcome to another Wool on Sundays :)

Have you had a yarnful month?

About a year ago I bought I book after seeing a sweet picture online. I can’t remember where I saw it but most likely on pinterest. I knew someone who was having a baby girl and I fell in love with the little pink cardi. I also thought the cover photo was sweet and assumed the book would include other similar knits.

Alas! Every swatch I made, even with the thinnest of wools, turned out too big and most of the patterns in the book don’t appeal to me to make in any size. Here is a selection…

But, now the baby is nearly one, so I decided to give the pink cardi another try and by knitting the smallest size (0-3 months) but using the length measurements of the largest size (9 months – 1 year) it is coming out only a little large so will be about right with a bit of growing room.

I suspected I may not have enough yarn but as I’m finishing with a yoke I thought I’d try to match it or, failing that, work the yoke in another yarn – perhaps something variegated with a similar pink in it or maybe a colour work border… Did I mention, I’d lost the wool band? Anyway, I have almost run out so I went to my LYS to look for something suitable and, although it’s a quite different shade to anything they had, the lady in the shop was quite certain about what it was and is ordering some for next week. Assuming she is right, I’ll alternate rows of my remaining little ball with the new and, hopefully, that should blend it in a bit. In the meantime, I’ve come to an abrupt halt in all things crafty. I’m up to date with TAST and have an Art Quilt ready for May…I don’t remember this ever happening before!

The next Wool on Sundays will be on Sunday 7th April 2019. Does anyone else think the year is going by a bit fast!

Wool on Sundays – 155 (Peter Mouse)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays! This month, I have finally done some knitting :)

Screen Shot 2018-01-06 at 12.38.07

I finished the ‘Girlfriend Market Bag’ that I had just started on the last Wool on Sundays…

And I found and finished (and gifted) a baby cardigan that had been mislaid in the Makery…

But my favourite make is Peter Mouse. He is very excited because he is going to fly to Poland on an aeroplane and go to live with a little boy who is also called Peter.
