Parade

Happy Parade Day :)

And thank you to everyone who sent good wishes to Mr RH.

He is recovering well :)

Well, my quilt has come a long way since the Christmas card!

And I have managed to include all the prompts (photos below) except the round 2 HSTs, which I skipped as I had some behind the hare in the centre already, and the round 4 – Sliced Squares – are the red and white background.

But this was meant to be a wall quilt but it is really too big to go on a wall so, when I should have been adding leaves, quilting it more and binding the edge, I decided to bias cut some more of the Moda Shades of Black fabric…

…and use the strip to attach it to some blue/green so, when I have time, I can add more borders and it can become a bed quilt instead.

I love the way bias cutting this fabric gives a row of circles and curves so easily and I hope no one will mind that it isn’t quite finished.

Thank you for organising to:

1st Round: Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing

2nd Round: Anja @ Anja Quilts

3rd Round: @ Quilting Gail

4th Round: Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life

5th Round: Brenda @ Songbird Designs

6th Round: Emily @ The Darling Dogwood

If it hadn’t been for this SAHRR, I would never in a million years have made a quilt like this. It has turned into quite an adventure. I’ve never hand stitched so much in my life and I’m looking forward to finishing it off and have something to brighten up our guest room.

Now I’m linking to Quilting Gail for the Parade of Quilts  and going over to the parade to see everyone else’s quilts :)

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

Your quilt is so whimsical and fun, Janine! I love the pretty colors and the leaping rabbits. This will make a very sweet bed quilt!

Janine, you do an extremly interesting work. What we plan and what comes out it every year a big surprise.
The log cabin in the flowers are absolutly stunning. And hand stiching or quilting makes so much fun in these fast driven times.
All the best for recovering Mr. RH!!

How exciting to reach the finish of this journey (well, almost)! Your quilt is inventive and creative and I absolutely love those bias “circles” in your quilt — so clever! Congratulations, and I’ll look forward to seeing it when you declare it to be done!

What a fabulous quilt you have made. I do love the way that last border piece works…so much fun. It looks great on the bed and will be perfect. I am so glad you had fun and made something gorgeous using the SAHRR prompts!
