Welcome to another Wool on Sundays :)
Next weekend I will be in York to bring back my youngest daughter, who after a long time and a LOT of work, has passed all her exams and finished being a medical student, though she says she probably can’t say she’s a Doctor until she graduates in July. I think that may deserve a (most likely late) hexie quilt ;) In the meantime I am in need of a portable project.
And, with all respect to everyone who swears by EPP, I really find the most portable project is crochet, at least up to a certain size.
I noticed that Wool Warehouse are having a major sale on Drops yarn and I have quite a lot of Drops Karisma (DK weight) left over from various past projects so I have ordered some other colours to go with them…
And I am going to start another Ripple Blanket using the Ripple Blanket Pattern from Attic 24 You may remember my Rainbow Ripple Blanket from Mrs Freer! I have Made Something! – my first ‘real’ crochet project. It was very easy – a perfect beginner project – and came together quite quickly.

Drops Paris Yarn
This time I will use DK and more subtle colours and I am aiming for a largish bedsize so I have chained 406 + 3 = 409 st. This should get to around the width of a double duvet cover, though I’m thinking it will probably stretch a bit wider and, if not, I can always add an edging. There will, of course, come a time when it’s too cumbersome to cart about but not, I suspect, by next weekend!

Congratulations on your daughter becoming a doctor. Wow!! You must all be very proud. What a lovely sight for sore eyes all those gorgeous woollies of yours. Your new ripple blanket does sound rather delightful. I can’t wait to see the progress of it. Love, love, love your hexies. Yes, I agree a hexie for your daughter’s graduation is a definite must. Though EPP hexies are gorgeous, you can always try a “quilt as you go” hexie, they are portable…..just saying. =)

Oh man!! A Doc in the family. Just an absolutely wonderful accomplishment.
Your blanket is sure pretty. I just love how colorful it is. I don’t knit, but I wonder if I would knit socks if I did. A lot of knitters do. The older I get, the more cold my feet are in the winter. Maybe I would and I’d make them Crazy Socks. They’d probably be wonky too. Your’s are beautiful!

Your socks amaze me every time I see the. I hope that grey and colourful cardigan gets wore a lot – it is so unique, I love it.
Is that blue yarn the start of your new blanket? It’s a lovely colour.

Congratulations to your daughter! A great achievement! I find yarn projects to be most portable too. Love your yarn finishes! Beautiful and colourful, and your fair isle knitting is really incredible. Have a safe trip!

Congratulations to Dr Daughter! The ripple looks great, jackie did try to teach me but I’m stuck on basic crochet but maybe I should get some of that fab wool!!!!
