April and May

April was cold and full of grass. I’m pretty sure that it was the coldest month of the year so far. We had frost most nights and snow on two days.

May couldn’t be more different – very hot and sunny. But although it’s officially Summer now, all around Spring is still Springing. I don’t remember it ever arriving so slowly. Bare branches and baby leaves are still the height of fashion.

On the craft front, I made a wall hanging for the Four in Art May Reveal. The theme was Colour + Music and it has it’s own post here.

And I upcycled some old clothes to make silk cushion with cotton crochet.

Whilst watching paint dry, I thought I’d take a photo of our new front door colour…

If only! Really, I’ve become a full time gardener and everything is very definitely still in progress. I expect to resume proper crafting around the middle of July…

Apart from that, we had a few more unusual visitors.

Great Spotted Woodpecker. You can learn more about Great Spotted Woodpeckers here.

Red Legged Partridges. You can learn more about them here.

And some visitors who come back every year to tell us it’s Summer and to nest in the stables. The swallows are back! These may not be the greatest pictures but by catching some in a photo at all, I’ve realised one of my lifetime ambitions :D

The lanes are full of wild flowers but I have yet to take any pictures so maybe I’ll do that for next month’s link up. In the meantime I am going to link up with Soma over at Whims and Fancies. I hope I’ll see you at the party!

It all looks lovely! I saw a sparrow yesterday! Not as pretty as your birds but it seems a long time since I saw one!

The warm weather can never come fast enough for me!! The Spring always brings mixed emotions when it comes to how I spend time. Being outside is glorious but then finding time to be crafty is almost impossible.

    Great pics.

Thank you so much for linking up on Wandering Camera! I had a fabulous time perusing through your absolutely wonderful photos and reading about them. I specially love the one with the sheep. Enjoy your time in the garden :)
