Wool on Sundays 24 – (A Flowerful Blanket)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays 24!

And thank you very much to everyone who joined in or visited last week.

At last I have the long awaited post – The Flowerful Blanket!

In the end I decided to stick with my twelve blocks. I very nearly went with the suggestions to make more blocks and I still think that a square may have been a better design choice but really this is big enough and I felt that it was going on forever and getting rather expensive.

The finished blanket measures very roughly 54″ x 65″.
I used Rico Cotton Essentials DK with the exception of the red and orange (flowers) and petrol and green (border) which are Drops Muskat and I used a 3.5mm hook. I mixed brands for the colours but I don’t really recommend it. The Drops is quite a lot thicker and, overall, I preferred the Rico.

For the flower blocks, I used a pattern from *Alice* My Favourite Squares. The page is in Russian and unfortunately, despite google translate, I was unable to comment or to find a way to contact Alice to thank her for sharing her beautiful collection of blocks and patterns so if anyone reading this speaks Russian and could help with that I’d really appreciate it.

I found the edging on Pinterest and added a single row of dc in green (sc in the US, I think).

I thought I might try a photo shoot with the small feathered people, who have now moved out of our kitchen and into their own house, but they kept getting so much under my feet that I couldn’t get a picture…

Then they got bored and wandered off.

And, lastly, I took this photo for Kim because I know how she likes a touch of yarn bombing!

If you have any wool or yarn projects to share, I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are:

1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn.
2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics.
3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up.
4). Visit anyone else who links.

Wishing you a week full of flowers and yarn :)

I haven't got anything this week to post on Wool on Sundays (still waiting for eyes for my Bower bird!) but I've got to comment on this. I love it, fantastic! Is the pattern easy enough to follow despite the language problem? I would love to have a go.
