Wool on Sundays – 187 (A Stocking)

Happy October and welcome to another Wool on Sundays!

Someone said, ‘History doesn’t repeat itself but it rhymes’ (questionably attributed to Mark Twain). Likewise Rainbow Hare!

You may remember that, back in Wool on Sundays – 174, I made a Christmas stocking for my first little granddaughter. I took bits and pieces of charts from various places and pretty much made it all up as I went along – which was a fine enough plan when I only ever expected to make one.

But now she has a little sister who of course needs one too.

As they are on holiday, I had no access to the original so I had to scrutinise the photos and I think this is sufficiently similar whilst being different enough to easily tell whose is whose. Although you wouldn’t think it from the pictures, I used the same wool so the colours will match.

Here is is the other side, the inside and some details in case anyone is interested…

Apart from this stocking (and a secret until November finish), my only September make was another jumper for my little grandson, which I thought I’d include here because it is furtling time again already!

Outside the world is surprising green for the time of year but Summer is inexorably rolling into Autumn and I have another stocking on the needles…

But first, I’m linking this post with Mini Archie’s September Furtle around the Blogosphere and going to visit the other furtlers, who generally are a lot more productive than I am!

Happy knitting, sewing or what you will :)

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

Given the fact that I cannot knit more than a scarf (and that not very well), I am suitably impressed when you mention you made it up as you went along! It is festive and lovely, and I’m sure will be a treasure for years to come!

I love this second stocking and have been zooming in on the photos and admiring the details and clever construction. The jumper is lovely and I think it will get lots of wear this autumn (and hopefully winter!) and he’ll look very cute in it. Hooray for finishes *waves pompoms* and thanks for Furtling!
