Wool on Sundays – 5 (mostly mittens)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays and thank you to everyone who visited and linked up last week! If you’re wondering Why wool? and Why Sundays? you can find an explanation here.
This is just a quick post because I’m sure it’s a busy weekend for us all! I finished the gloves and mittens from last week! I used this pattern for the owl motif. This is a corrected version, without a key, and I never did find the original but you can work it out by examining the WS rows and the picture. In the end, I solved the looseness around the fingers issue by crocheting a thin border around the edges but skipping one in three cast off stitches on the underhand side.
For the felted mittens, I used Drops Nepal (which I hadn’t tried before). I used a free pattern Best felted mittens by Olga Beckmann. I also joined Ravelry and added this as my first project, although I’ve yet to post a profile or work out how everything works!

I really like the shaping of these and it makes me smile to see them standing up by themselves.

Apart from that I’ve started one more project. Here is a sneak peek but really it’s a secret until after christmas :)

If you have any wooly thoughts or projects I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are:

1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn.
2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics.
3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up.
4). Visit anyone else who links.

Happy knitting :)
