Since the SAHRR…

One view. Two photos. One month apart.

No wonder we call it Spring!

Since the SAHRR, here at Rainbow Hare, there has been a little sewing…

…and a lot of Spring, flooding the world with green in all directions.

I, alas, have lost my spring altogether.

I planted the most part of the year’s seeds and did a respectable amount of weeding and then, just as I was planning Easter holiday visits to the Zoo and the Pizza House, I did something to my back.

One day I could jump up and down, even hop at a push. The next I was nearly being knocked off my feet with violent spasms in my back and really struggling to stand, sit or walk.

As if that weren’t a nightmare enough (not to mention very inconvenient), I then got a very nasty sickness bug, which made my back worse, and, before I knew it, a week had gone by.

Then came a silver lining. I became able to sit very still on a certain chair at the kitchen table and read a book so I finished Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer, which I started in hospital waiting rooms last month, and then moved onto A Table for Two by Amor Towles, which my daughter gave me for Christmas.

A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my favourite books so I began with high hopes and was, in truth, a little disappointed with the short stories. But then I came to the novella, Eve in Hollywood. And novel it was. I learnt a new word:

And I gleaned all sorts a fascinating insights into a world (real or imagined) that I knew nothing of before. And, perhaps a few insights into this one, which I might mention in another post…

But, in the meantime, I think my back is slowly improving and I hope, in day or two, I might even be able to pick something up off the floor!

Happy Easter!

Janine @ Rainbow Hare

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

I’m so sorry to hear of your back problems, Janine. Take it from experience, you just have to give it time to heal and don’t push things. Enjoy what you can and let the rest go. I hope you have a happy Easter, despite your back issues. Sending healing thoughts and prayers.

    Dear Janine,

so sorry to hear you are not fine and having problems with your back. We are two in the team…. my back and more sciatica make me pain and problems. But I can move … not without ibuprofen.. but a little bit more than you. Anyhow – I know how painful and frustrating all this is. So, hope it will be better.. a warm water bottle is my best friend … even at daytime. and I spend a lot of money at a chiropractor before our holiday in Spain

we had wonderfull days there … 10 hard working days at tourist a lot of time to discover a lot my little spanisch language skills helps and I came home with a good motivation to stay on track to learn this language. I have to wait until retirement to do it intensively – my brain is occupied with company work in the moment

After holiday we had a quilt fair (not only quilt and not like in England or USW) only some little show and now prices or so and supplier to sell wool, garments and fabrics. But we are a good handful of friends who drove there. it is a two hours ride with the car. This year I recognized a lot of more belgium and dutch fair booths …. and some french

I bought a french book and talked to the lady who wrote it. Can send you pictures. I had french at school and it will work for this book Mr. Apple and AI (artificial intelligence) may help. It is not a book with pattern… it is my world, free motion quilting and more ideas how to no pattern. And I see first time a biscorbu ….. this is a pincushion with special embroidery!! so- something new to test

and I bought handwoven and hand-dyed fabric – I will do a shoulder shawl … modern with big handstiches

SAHRR 2025: I am not finsihed – because of our holiday and because it is really big and this blocks are much work. But now the weather is overcasted and hopefully rainy – so it is a good time to be in. If weather is good, we are outside with activities.

Your SAHRR 2025 is sooooo lovely. I like it how it turned out. And a wonderful place for him in your guest room.

how is your husband?? is he better??

Unfortunately I do not find any button to comment, and the comment button don’t work… so I send you this eMail and hope you love it. don’t put these information on the blog, I think it is more important and ok, that I write to you I love this contact and would love to have more time to write more often.

Hope I do not bother you later – if I send some pictures….

your green pictures are lovely.. !!!

All good wishes for you that the back will be better soon!!!

    greetings Eva :-)))

What a tough run of health problems. Glad you are on the mend. I have read both of those books and agree with your conclusions. Another novel by this author you might consider is The Lincoln Highway.

One of the treasures of your blog is all the photos of nature, and your surroundings. Is that a wee little cabin-in-the-woods I spy in the top two photos? A good hideaway for grandchildren, for sure. I am so sorry about your back. Our lists of what has gone wrong with us continues to grow, which is so not very fair, I think! I’m glad you were finally able to sit and read, and dived into some books. Hopefully as things improve, you’ll be able to add back in some of your favorite tasks and pleasures.

As a teenager in the San Francisco area, we tossed around the word copacetic all the time, influenced as we were by the stoner era, although most of us never took drugs at that time. It permeated our language, though, and always made for a colorful visit to the City (we always capitalized it when we spoke of it). What a time that was — so long ago. I have since learned many interesting and hard and delightful words, so thank you for prompting me to think back to when I first heard it.

    Get better soon!
