Happy September!

So June, July and August have been and gone with nothing much in the way of making here at Rainbow Hare. Just a cardigan, a grumpy horse (for the Endeavourers) and a Birthday cake…

If this were a gardening blog, I would have had more to show.

For a long time, we kept chickens and ducks (and once a goose who terrorised the neighbourhood and disappeared in very mysterious circumstances one snowy night) but, when the last of our flock died, we had bird flu here. There were movement restrictions and birds had to be kept under cover (which we didn’t want to do) so we didn’t get any more. The run was also getting quite dilapidated, despite lots of patching up so we decided to take it down and incorporate it into the vegetable garden.

It has been a LOT of work!

But now it is done and we even have a proper garden shed, which, conveniently, is actually in the middle of the garden now!

And now I’m back, with the highest of hopes and the greatest of expectations of spending more time in the Makery and being more often in blogland.

I hope you had a lovely Summer and I’m looking forward to catching up with what everyone has been making :)

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

Your garden looks a dream, Janine. It certainly looks as if you’ve been spending a lot of time working in it. All your hard work has paid off, though. What’s not to love about a proper garden shed. Your grumpy horse is sweet and it’s always a happy birthday when there’s a dolly garden cake to help celebrate. Happy September to you!

Hi Janine, what a gorgeous garden you have. Gardening takes so much time! That’s one of the reasons that my garden is quite the mess. And now it getting too cool to have my coffee outside in the morning. So sad. Our trees have barely changed colours but fall is here nonetheless. I hope you’ll have time to play soon. Take care.
