SAHRR – THE PARADE

Now, it’s time for the SAHRR 2024 Parade with Quilting Gail.

I have ditch quilted my quilt by machine and bound it so I’m not too far off being finished but I’m still in the process of adding some hand quilting and I won’t have time to finish that before the linky party ends so so we are coming as we are and I’ll make another post when it’s done!

I’ve never sewn so fast and this is technically quite terrible – there is barely a stitch that couldn’t do with being frogged – but I’ve really enjoyed joining in with this and it has been quite an adventure. It has turned out completely unlike anything I would have thought of making, not to mention having a quote from someone I’d never heard of until the last round!

It didn’t quite rain on my parade but by the time I realised I’d hung the quilt the wrong way up in the photos, the skies had opened so here it is rotated!

I hope you will visit everyone else who joined in with this fun QAL. It’s amazing how all the quilts are so different, given that we all had the same prompts, and I’m already looking forward to joining in again next year :)

[An aside, I have had been having trouble, lately, with wordpress not sending email addresses to me when someone comments. Hopefully, the happiness engineers will get to the bottom of that soon but, for now, I will have to reply to comments here.]

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

I love this as finished as it is, and your quilt in the wild photo are fabulous. I’m glad you went for a walk with the quilt, and that you found that quote because it really fits. It’s been a blast following your progress during the SAHRR.

It is a work of art. I couldn’t imagine how you were going to continue adding when you started with the rounded corners. Congratulations.

Janine, I really LOVE how your quilt turned out! It is so fun and unique! SAHRR has pushed me out of my comfort zone each year I’ve been a participant. I’ve been out of town for a few days and am playing catch up! Thanks so much for quilting along with us. We hope you enjoyed it and hope to see you next year!! Have a great weekend!

Oh, this is wonderful!! I love the aphorism, and love love the quilt. A beautiful make, for sure. Yes, on the missing email addresses from WP. My workaround is to sign into the blog, head to comments, and in the upper right corner is an “info about commenter” and that’s how I reply. I wish they hadn’t taken them away!

What a great quilt! I especially like the use of the white fabrics with black writing, and the black fabrics with white writing. To me, they unify the quilt and sort of soften the transitions from one border to another.
