Welcome to the Weekly Washing Line for SAHRR Round 5!

I can hardly believe we are at the 5th Round of the SAHRR already and, this week, I am linking up with Gail @ Quilting Gail.
Gail chose this week’s border and she said:
“My choice for this round is “4.” You can do whatever you want – but it needs to have an element of “4” in it. You can choose 4 colours, 4 different blocks, 4 of one block … it’s YOUR choice.”
It seems to me that nothings says ‘4’ like a square, so my first thought was to surround my centre with coloured squares and I cut 4 squares in each of the colours I had previously used…

…But, when I laid them out on the dining table, I really wasn’t keen so, instead, I added 4 thin black borders and surrounded them with low volume squares.

Now we only have one more round, then the parade:
- February 26: 6th Round: Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing
- March 18: Parade: showing all of your finished SAHRRs!
I’m very much looking forward to seeing everyone’s ‘4’ borders and to finding out what the next round is going to be.
Happy Sewing!

(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

Isn’t it interesting how our quilts tell us what they need? I had a similar experience this week. I like how you changed up your idea with the black borders and low volumes.

I like this so much! You were right – the low volume squares make a great border at this stage of the project!

Wow Janine, do I ever like your quilt! How ingenious to add the low volume squares border after the four thin black ones. Bravo!

This is wonderful – I think you made the right choice between the colorful or the low volume border. The picture of it hanging outdoors is really pretty.
