Now we have got to the 4th Round of the Stay at Home Round Robin and this week I am linking up with Brenda @ Songbird Designs, who chose the ‘square in a square’ block.

Instead of sewing them individually, I cheated a little by making my ‘square in a square’ blocks as rows because I wanted them to reflect the hsts from last week and it saved a lot of time.

I used the tutorial below but I cut my coloured strips 2 1/4″ (1 3/4 finished) and my ‘white’ strips 2 3/4″ (2 1/4 finished) so my finished strip be 2 1/2″, which is the same size as the hsts. I’m going to add a 1″ sashing strip next and that will bring the border with the hsts, squares + the 2x 1″ sashing strips to 4 1/2″ wide, which is the same size as the signature blocks and half the size of the dwr circles.
Today it keeps pouring with rain so this terrible inside photo is the best I can manage to show the complete top so far!

But I ran out and dried the washing line during a short burst of sunshine and this gives a better indication of the colours :)

I hope I can find time, this week, to add enough batting to quilt the light blue because all those wrinkles in the photos are really annoying me!
Now we have two more rounds and then the parade:
- February 19: 5th Round: Gail @ Quilting Gail
- February 26: 6th Round: Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing
- March 18: Parade: showing all of your finished SAHRRs!
I’m very much looking forward to seeing everyone’s ‘square in square’ borders and to finding out what the next two rounds have in store for us…
Happy Sewing!
Janine @ Rainbow Hare
(If you subscribe to my blog by email, firstly, thank you :) Secondly, I really recommend you view the web version because otherwise you end up with a random scramble of photos and I don’t know how to stop that happening).

I love how you completed the border this way. Years ago I had a book of Seminole patchwork that I used, but I had forgotten about it. Neat way to do the Sq in Sq blocks. I have to say, I’m a bit jealous. When your top is complete your quilting will be done, too!

I am glad you were able to get it outside! The colors are fabulous and I like what I call the seminole piecing approach you took to making your square in a square blocks!
