…another Dottie Angel Frock!
This is my third, now, and the material is a heavier cotton than the last two so it’s a bit stiff but I hope it will soften up with washing and wearing.
I really do love the pockets :) The pattern I used (with a couple of adjustments) was – Simplicity 1080. I think the blue dress will always be my favourite but I can’t wear that one every day and, all in all, for £6 in a charity shop (meaning the money will go to the charity), I think it was money well spent! I even have fabric left over for cushions or, perhaps a shopping bag…
On the same day, I also had another lucky find. I had actually ventured into town in search of something to use as a cradle for a very special doll. Our nearest town mostly comprises charity shops, hairdressers and Estate Agents so I was hoping for a preloved basket or, perhaps, some kind of box that could be covered with fabric or papier mache but what I ended up finding was this…
…a wooden cradle that someone had made and that had been marked down to half price (and a fraction of the cost of a flimsy plastic new version). Fiona agreed that it had potential but Poppy was too busy running round the pond to take much interest. It made me smile to see in the photo that she goes so fast she actually blurs!
I think a coat of chalk paint has already brightened it up and I will share more of this project in another post.

Eeek, another dress from that pattern!!!! You chose such gorgeous fabric too! Love it and the cradle ….. which I thought looked good in pine, but even better in the chalk paint! And I think you have our cat there ….. well maybe his double!!!!! Does he run round the house madly???? Ahhh, no you said Fiona, maybe it’s his sister!

Your dresses are so pretty! And the fabric is a bonus to have some left over for pillows. A win-win situation. My daughter is the Queen of Thrift. She can see possibilities where I see…none. I think a lot of it has to do with being older and not wanting to bring more items INTO the house when I am taking what is here OUT to donate to those same shops.

Oh gosh, you have some amazing drapes festooning your windows, Janine! LOVE this frock. Next time I am in town I must purchase this pattern….it is so very cool. Cute cradle. It always amazes me what treasures can be found in charity shops. Your Poppy’s antics so remind me of my Maisie…..I guess it is “secret Spaniel business”!

I am with you when it comes to pockets! A gripe of mine that so few women’s clothes have them. I love all of the dresses – beautiful. I work in a charity shop and never find such lovely curtains, you’ve done a great job with all your finds

Love this dress! I wish I lived closer, as I would send you the cradle I hand-painted during my tole painting years. We are down-sizing and moving things out, so currently it is at my daughter’s (but I’m sure she’s going to move it to the thrift shop any day now). Fun post!
