Welcome to the first of the new monthly, Wool on Sundays :)

Now that I’m only going to be doing Wool On Sundays once a month, I feel it ought to be easier to find yarn content to share but January was not only mostly blue, it was mostly yarnless…

I did finish a baby cardigan, using some Drops Baby Merino. Being impatient to get started, I wanted to use up yarn from stash and this yarn is very warm and soft and it’s also stretchy, which I think will be handy for the new Mum for ease of dressing, but my colour choices are limited and I don’t know whether the baby will be a boy or girl. I think I might change the button, especially if it’s a girl. I can imagine a daisy button looking nice…

I used a simple raglan design in garter stitch with moss stitch edging. And that, I’m afraid is as far as I got. I’ve been thinking about making a hat to wear in the garden but I couldn’t find anything that leapt off the page. I quite like Talena Winters’ Twisted Rope Hat on Ravelry but I was really thinking a nordic two colour one with ear flaps would be nice…Do you have any favourite hat patterns?

I hope February will be more wool-full!

And that brings me to walk in the garden…

The sky said blue.

And the pond said blue.

And the trees admired themselves in the glass.

And the sun strode northwards, further each day.

Kissing the treetops with cold fire.

And the new buds asked, “Is it time, is it time?”

And the cold earth said, “Not yet, not yet!”

And the chicken said, “Spring! Hurry up! Hurry up!”

And the old gourd said, “No rush, no rush…”

And the oak, who is wise, said nothing and was equally content with the sunny days and the frosty nights.
