Wool on Sundays – 132 (gloves and socks)

rainbowhareWelcome to another Wool on Sundays! I hope you have had a happy and yarnful week :)

The highlight of my week has been visiting all the trunk show link ups over at Whims and Fancies. As I write this post you have eleven hours left to link up and, even you are too late to link, I very much recommend you visit to admire and be inspired by all the wonderful quilts :)

My in-car-knitting finishes are not nearly so interesting but  I hope they will come in useful. I made a pair of fingerless gloves for Mr RH using the pattern at the top of this post, which I think my mother probably gave me at some point. They are the same as the yellow ones I made last week but I used Drops Karisma, which is a bit thicker and went a size up with the needles.

For other (free) vintage knitting patterns, you might like to browse the  V&A 1940s Knitting Patterns, where they have a great selection.

Also using drops Karisma (of which I seem to have quite a stock!), I  made a pair of socks for my younger daughter.

I used the pattern DROPS 113-31 by DROPS Design, which has the heel and sole worked in reverse stocking stitch. Once I got to the stage above, however, I really wasn’t liking the reverse st st – it just looked inside out to me – so I frogged and used right-side-out st st instead. The gloves and socks both look a lot better with hands and feet inside but, unfortunately the owners have wandered off without a photo. I will have to edit to add some pictures when I catch up with them…

Have you been knitting or crocheting this week?

If you have any wool/yarn posts to share, I’d love you to link up. The rules, as usual, are: 1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings or photos – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn. 2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics. 3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up. 4). MOST IMPORTANT visit anyone else who links.
