Ripples grow…

Welcome to Wool on Sundays, which I have decided, on this very noisy day in the UK, to keep as a quiet, calm place to reflect as usual on endeavours in the world of wool and yarn. And thank you very much to everyone who visited last week.

I’m not sure if I mentioned it before but my ripple blanket began when my mother gave me some money for my birthday and I used it to buy rather a lot of wool. I think I did mention that I was in want of a portable project to take to York. The wool is, stripe by stripe, coming to an end.

And it has grown from being a perfect portable project to a heavy, unwieldy mass, which pulls and struggles against me as I try to crochet. Had it been Winter, I may well have appreciated snuggling under it on the sofa to work but, despite some very torrential and thundery rain storms the temperature has fluctuated only between oppressively warm and humid and outright heatwave. The best solution I have found is to balance it on the ironing board and sit in front of it on a chair, turning the whole thing over at the end of each row.

I will be very glad when it’s finished! I’m now within a hair’s breadth of being able to literally do this in my sleep, which I suppose is a skill of a sort but I will be happier to sleep under it!
