Wool on Sundays – 81 (Mother of the Trees)

Welcome to another Wool on Sundays! I’ve decided to start a new year and the word for the year is JOYFUL!

When I was away, last week, I didn’t want to be carting about a large blanket in progress so I just took some Drops Safran and a pair of needles with me and started knitting garter stitch balls in any spare moments. Since forever, I have wanted to have a stall at Christmas and I think these will make a nice garland with the added value of not being too christmassy so they can be used year round. Making them fast enough to accomplish a selling price that anyone would be prepared to pay, however, is another matter…

So I moved onto some trees, which are a bit quicker to knit up.

Then I thought about making single decorations, a larger tree perhaps that was also a person…
But you know how it is with dolls…first there were the usual hair issues and then she didn’t want baubles and tinsel. Then she wanted a pink scarf…She outright refused to be conventionally christmassy – she was joyful!

The Mother of the Christmas Trees :)

Have you ever wondered who gives the stars to the christmas trees?
And as for having a stall, we’re going to have to sleep on it :)
I will most likely never know who she (or faint possibility he?) is or was but I am very grateful to whoever stitched the beautiful vintage cloth I have used for the background of these photos :)

Have you been working with wool or yarn lately? If so, please link up. The rules as usual are: 1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings or photos – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn. 2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics. 3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up. 4). Visit anyone else who links. Wishing you a happy week :)
