Wool on Sundays – 67 (another cushion…)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays – 67 and thank you very much to everyone who visited last week. :)

This week, as usual, I had big sewing plans but I ended up to succumbing to attempting another project from this wonderful book, by Cécile Balladino (you can visit her blog Eclectic Gipsyland), which I showed last week.

It is, however, another step in making The Makery and it also ticks the upcycling box. 
 
For the longest time, this was my favourite skirt. I wore and wore it until the fabric faded and grew thin. Eventually, it tore and, though beyond repair, I kept it in the hope of one day finding a suitable project to use it in.
 
 
Despite my various difficulties with interpretation of both the language and charts, I think this has ended up being very similar to the original. This way of making a flower is completely unlike anything I’ve done before and there are lots of new to me stitches. 
 
 
I made a few changes as genuine design choices, most notably making the improv bobbles, rather than using a commercial trimming. 
 
 
And, as usual, there are also some unintentional variations…

 
But, overall, I love it and it’s my favourite cushion so far!

    Love this cushion, Janine. Those bobbles are very cool. Your upcycled skirt fabric is the perfect finish to a perfect cushion!

    Good for you for sticking with your project in spite of those few little barriers. The cushion is fabulous and very clever for using your skirt in such a practical way!

    Oh this looks familiar!!! I still love my cushion, it isone of the few things coming with me when I emigrate. Not even my sewing machine gets that honour.
