New to me – Granny’s Paperweights

If you are kind enough to follow Wool on Sundays, you are probably thinking this isn’t new to me because it feels like this project has been going on for ages and you’re probably fed up of seeing this crochet but, looking back, I see this really was something newI tried this month – Granny’s Paperweight blocks, inspired by ericka eckles, who has made the most gorgeous projects using this block, which you can see on her blog. The yarn is Drops Safran and I used a 3mm hook. I used a tutorial at Heidi Bears and I made the minor modification of finishing on the 4th row with a round of double crochets.

It’s meant to look like a millefiore glass paperweight…

My original plan was to make these into a blanket but I have scaled back my ambitions and decided to make a seat cover instead.

Next month I will have to try something else new – sorting out the edges to get this into a cushion, which I’m not expecting to be plain sailing!

If you’ve tried something new, this month, don’t forget to link up with Fiona :)
