Wool on Sundays – 53 (more socks!)

Poppy got her name tag, btw, for supporting England in the Rugby World Cup…
Welcome to another Wool on Sundays and thank you very much for the kind comments and links last week.
It really is knitting in front of the fire weather, here, and by some kind of a miracle (more prosaically known as Mr RH being away last weekend!) I’ve managed to finish another pair of socks. This time they fit me so I shall keep them on in case anyone tries to persuade me to give them away!

I used drops karisma again and the pattern I used to get the basic shape is the same one as last week and can be found free at garnstudio.

I love these Norwegian designs. My favourite part is the stripy feet!

For the top border, I used a chart from Traditional Scandinavian Knitting by Sheila McGregor. It’s a fascinating book, which I read a lot of on Amazon ‘Look Inside’, then bought and have never managed to read the rest properly because I always get distracted and start knitting. One day, perhaps, it will get a post of its own…

For the other patterns, I slightly adapted some colour charts from this garn studio sock pattern (I couldn’t just use that pattern, in case you are wondering, because it’s in a different gauge).

I think that’s enough socks for the moment but I have two other colour work projects planned. Hopefully I’ll have at least a start to show by next week…

What have you been making lately?

If you have any yarn projects this week, I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are: 1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings or photos – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn. 2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics. 3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up. 4). Visit anyone else who links. Wishing you a happy week :)

I sure wish you could be persuaded to send those gorgeous socks down here…..no…..I didn't think so….but it was worth a try!! They are amazing Janine! You are much, much too clever! I am going to give this Amazon 'Look Inside' a look..sounds fascinating. Love, love, love your puppy. My Springer Spaniel never looks clean…….too mush springing in and out of muddy dams chasing ducks!! How cosy your fire looks….almost makes me wish Winter was here…….almost!!

WOW those are amazing socks – I had to keep looking at the photo and then read your text until I realized why the socks looked extra “fancy” – the striped bottom – what a cool design!

Great Socks Janine and the picture of them with Poppy and the fire is lovely. Is it you who is a Rugby gal or someone else in your family? I'm nuts about rugby myself and am counting down til the six nations, only 15 more days to go. It's going to be a cracking year for rugby…. excited!!!
