Wool on Sundays – 39 (upcycling)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays 39!

Did you have a yarnful week?

The only thing I’ve managed to accomplish with a woolly element, this week, has involved upcycling an old scarf which I had, accidentally, slightly felted – and I’m sorry to say that I don’t even have a ‘before’ picture of the scarf!

It began with an old basket, which was left in a heap of logs by someone who lived in our house before us. Mr RH has, on many occasions, attempted to take it to the local dump but I’ve always thought it had potential.

And, on Friday, I eventually admitted to myself that I really don’t have time to take up basket making so I decided to cobble together a repair of sorts using whatever was at hand.

The rim, clearly, needed reinforcement and ‘whatever was at hand’ turned out to be the handle of an empty paint tub, a length of ribbon and a strip of old sheeting and that managed to make it fairly functional.

But it wasn’t exactly aesthetic, and that brings me to scarf. I sewed the ends together and wrapped it over the rim and I think it could probably do with some wadding to give a smoother finish but, all in all, I was very happy to have found such a quick project to brighten up a corner of the room :)

Do you have any projects current yarn or wool. If so, I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are:

1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings or photos – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn.
2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics.
3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up.
4). Visit anyone else who links.

Wishing you a happy week :)
