Wool on Sundays – 25 (Sea Stars – a variation)

Welcome to Wool on Sundays – 25!
Some weeks I find Wool on Sundays comes round a couple of days before I’m ready for it!
I expect I should learn to be more organised and schedule posts… This week, again, I’ve realized, late on a Saturday night, that I’ll be out all day tomorrow so I’m showing night time pictures of some yarn that looks a lot better in real life and in daylight.

Whilst pondering what to with my Sea Stars from last week, I decided to try a couple in this Drops  Delight 4 ply yarn.

I’m not always a huge fan of space dyed yarns – or at least I LOVE them when I see a skein but I’m not usually so fond of them made up. But I thought they might suit this crochet and give me some nice colour changes without having to invest in lots of different colours. I’m planning to make a largish scarf/wrap and I think this weight is more suitable than the Rico dk cotton. The one below is my favourite so far.

The main challenge I’ve found is that the yarn has dramatic variations in thickness but I’m hoping that will even out as character over the piece as a whole.

Unfortunately I’ve nearly run out and when I visited Wool Warehouse to try to buy some more I found this, which I thought I’d show to give a better idea of the colour.

Do you know what having the writing in red means?
Out of stock!
I’m starting to think that someone. somewhere doesn’t want to finish a Sea Stars project!
Do ever feel like the universe is conspiring against you getting things finished?

If you have any wool or yarn projects to share, finished or not, I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are:

1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn.
2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics.
3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up.
4). Visit anyone else who links.

Wishing you a happy week :)

I so agree, me thinks that there is a universal conspiracy against us knitters/crocheters/quilters. I don't know how many times I have tried to finish things only to be told that the fabric/wool is out of stock or discontinued. But….I am sure that you will come up with something equally as gorgeous for your sea stars. I must say they are looking good.
