Wool on Sundays – 18 (back to square one)

Welcome to the 18th Wool on Sundays! And thank you to everyone who linked up or stopped by last week :)

I don’t have any yarn finishes this week, although ironically, it’s sewing rather than yarn work that has stopped my latest cushion from being a finish. It just needs a fabric back. I think maybe I should make a batch of sewn covers ready to attach these to because once the crochet is finished it’s hard to find enthusiasm for sewing the cover.

It’s very similar to my first round cushion but I’ve used Rico Essentials Cotton DK and a 3.5mm hook and I think the whole effect is a lot neater. Of course I’ve practised a lot since the first cushion too and my recent one is certainly better crocheted!

Apart from that I’ve been thinking about making a blanket with squares. I chanced upon this beautiful collection of squares via pinterest and I really liked the flower motif but I had trouble seeing the pattern so I searched about for alternatives and even bought a kindle store book of granny squares to try to find an alternative. But I just couldn’t find a block anywhere that I liked as much as this one so I took a screenshot and printed it and, magically, that got it to a usable size! And now I’m trying to make one a day…

I haven’t decided whether to just have flowers or to use a variety of designs. What do you think?

If you have any yarn projects, this week, I’d love you to link up with WOOL ON SUNDAYS. The rules as usual are:
1). Posts must include some content – makes or musings – related to knitting, crochet, felting, spinning or yarn.
2). Projects sewn from felt or wool fabric or stitchery using wool are also welcome but please don’t link posts that are exclusively about sewing, quilting and fabrics.
3). Posts don’t have to be from the past week but please put a link to WOOL ON SUNDAYS or grab the button from my sidebar and include it in or at the bottom of any posts you link up.
4). Visit anyone else who links.

Wishing you a happy week :)

I love the colours and lacy design of your unfinished crochet cushion. :)

I love the flower pattern you chose. It would look good with all flowers or a variety of designs. I need to practice my crochet.

Oh my…I love your cushion cover. You always have the knack of placing fabulous colours together. I love the higgeldy piggeldy nature of a blanket with a variety of designs…but then….a blanket with all flowers would look awesome as well. You will just have to crochet two blankets!!

Both cushion covers are pretty – one is just more lacy/airy than the other :) Did you check on Ravelry to see if anyone can link you up for a flower block pattern?

Your crochet-work is looking lovely, Janine, beautiful colors!! I often find myself pouring my heart out on making a pp block and then not wanting to see it for at least a month, so I understand your dilemma on not wanting to sew the cover. You will have a wonderful cushion when you are in the mood for sewing again :)
