TGIFF

We’ve had some lovely days in the last couple of weeks…

This cow was very keen to have her photo taken!

…but today isn’t one of them! The wind and I rarely see eye to eye when it comes to taking pictures of quilts and today we are, apparently, having gusts of 70-80mph so I’m not even going to attempt it and the photos are rather gloomy.

May’s colour for the Colour My World Challenge with M-R at Quilt Matters was aqua/cyan and last week I became possessed of the idea that this skirt, which I chanced upon in a charity shop, would be perfect for something…

By last Friday, I had got it into a 42″ unbound lap quilt and I was thinking of either adding some applique to make it a bit more interesting or cutting it up to make something else. But yesterday, having had no great inspiration and no time to sew all week, I decided just to bind the edges and call it finished.

It’s not quite so grim as it looks in this picture…
front and back – which is fugliest?
this photo has the most accurate colour

I’m not going to link this to the Colour My World Challenge today because M-R is leaving the linky open all year which means:

1. I still have time to make something I like in this colour-way to link up.
2. If you haven’t joined in already you check out the Colour My World Challenge and either start with June’s colour or go back and make something for the colours we’ve done so far.

Applique something lovely on top of that finished piece….a beach ball bouncing,…..sea shells……a sea bird…..maybe even a fish. I think it would look splendid.

I love how you have taken the skirt and made it into a lap quilt.
I love the color and think it looks really nice.
I would like to get into some of the online sewing challenges….maybe that would motivate me more to get things completed.

Oooh, I love that you repurposed that skirt and I think the quilt is great. The simple clean lines complement the clean feel of the colour. The quilting must have taken forever! Definitely link this up to Colour My World too, Janine. You could always add another one later — there's no limit on how many one person can link up. Thanks for the plug on the challenge and for linking up to TGIFF!
